Equine Assisted Psychotherapy

Equine Assisted Psychotherapy (EAP) is a form of therapy that incorporates a mental health professional, a horse professional and horses. EAP is a proven therapeutic approach that supports clients in reconnecting to their strengths and needs while identifying lasting solutions.  Whether child, teen or adult, clients are given a safe environment to see themselves, their patterns of behavior and the impact these may have on themselves and others. EAP frees them to walk forward in strength and allows our clients to embrace growth and enhance their “arena” of life.

At Four Winds Counseling & Coaching, we adhere to and are certified by EAGALA. Following the EAGALA model, sessions with our horses take place in an arena or outdoors within a non-riding format. No prior knowledge or experience with horses is required.

Equine Assisted Growth and Learning Association (EAGALA) is the global standard for Equine Assisted Psychotherapy and Personal Development. With 4500 members in 50 nations, EAGALA Certified Professionals complete a rigorous training program, commit to evidence-based client solutions and adhere to the highest standards of professionalism, practice and ethics.
